Co-founders Ed and Annina led the incubation and development of OpenCRVS as a digital public good whilst working at Plan International, an international NGO. Through New Legacy Digital they have a vision of taking open-source products like OpenCRVS to scale in a sustainable way.

Edward Duffus

Ed leads New Legacy Digital’s innovation and digital transformation practice. He is responsible for creating strategic partnerships to design, build and implement human-centred technology solutions for low resource settings. He is a thought-leader in the domain of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) and has pioneered the use of digital technologies to strengthen civil registration systems around the world. While working for Plan International he set up the Global Innovation Team and founded OpenCRVS, a digital public good for civil registration. Previously, Ed worked for Accenture in the Advanced Systems and Technology practice.

Annina Wersun

Annina leads New Legacy Digital’s product and implementation teams. She is passionate about creating products with users that reflect their needs, and implementing them in a way that gets people excited about the change and opportunity that new technology brings. While working at Plan, she has led CRVS assessment and strengthening programmes across Africa and Asia and most recently led the development and first implementation of OpenCRVS in Bangladesh. Prior to Plan, Annina worked for Accenture’s infrastructure practice where she led digital transformations for a range of private and public sector clients.
